RESEARCH: Partners, Pride, and Prevention: Scaling Mpox Vaccination Access Across Minnesota
Share this
A report published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (IJERPH) examines how Fairview Health Services’ Minnesota Immunization Networking Initiative used a mobile, partnership-driven approach to expand mpox vaccination access across Minnesota during the 2022 outbreak. Through 125 community-based events and more than 2,200 vaccine doses delivered in trusted settings such as Pride events and neighborhood clinics, the program reached populations disproportionately impacted by mpox, including LGBTQ+ communities, people of color, and rural residents. The study finds that mobile clinics helped reduce stigma and geographic barriers, supported vaccine series completion, and improved alignment between vaccine delivery and community need, highlighting mobile health as a critical strategy for equitable outbreak response and prevention.
